History of Myrhorod

The town was founded either in the 12th or 13th centuries as an eastern border fort of Kievan Rus'. According to legend, the fort was a place of peace negotiations that gave it its name (literally the City of Peace).[citation needed]
Myrhorod was first mentioned in chronicles in 1575 when Stephen Bathory, King of Poland made it a regiment city. According to some[who?] historians, there was an earlier mentioning of the city in 1530, when the city coat of arms were established - yellow cross over an eight-pointed star, which signifies the victory of Christianity over Islam.[citation needed]
Myrhorod was the regimental base of the Myrhorod Cossacks who were very active in several Ukrainian Cossack uprisings, particularly during the peasants'-and-cossacks' revolt of 1638 under the leadership of Hetman Yakov Ostrianytsia against the Polish nobility (szlachta). The Myrhorod Cossack regiment was among the best units in the army of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky during the Khmelnytsky Uprising (1648–1654).
After the Treaty of Pereyaslav, the city became an uezd city, center for the Myrhorod regiment. The famous Sorochyntsy Fair is located 25 km from the Myrhorod.
Myrhorod became famous in world literature through a cycle of stories Mirgorod by Nikolai Gogol.[citation needed]
Since the beginning of the 20th century, Myrhorod is also known as a resort town for its underground mineral waters lodged inside the layer of rocks deposited during the Jurassic period. Commercial drilling for this ecologically pure water started in 1927.[citation needed]
In 1999, an English [Language] Resource Center was established at Myrhorod School #9, one of four such centres opened in Ukraine with the continuous help from Siena College since 1995. Other contributors to this project were Americans for Democracy in Ukraine (ADU), Canadian Credit Bank, and Narodna Kasa from Montreal, Canada. In 1995 a group of Myrhorod teachers, former participants at the seminars conducted by methodologists from Siena College Teacher Training Institute, organized Poltava Oblast's English Teachers' Association. The Myrhorod English Resource Center is supervised by the local Teachers' Association.[citation needed]

"Myrhorodska" (or "Mirgorodskaya") water is described as "slightly mineralised natrium chloride water". It is completely clear and tastes a little odd, part of the taste being attributable to what is, in effect, table salt. Many other dissolved minerals also contribute to the taste and, of course, it is the precise balance of these that is thought to produce the claimed health benefits. For its unique health curative effects, "Myrhorodska" water is recommended by doctors for people suffering from gastritis, colitis and other disorders of the digestive system, particularly those with a lower level of stomach acidity than is considered average.[citation needed] It is also widely drunk as table water because it quenches thirst effectively and produces general effects considered to be beneficial to health.
There are several health resorts in Myrhorod (at least four). The most extensive and by far the best equipped of these is 'Mirgorod Kurort' (Russian: Миргород Курорт), the Russian version of the city's name being used in preference to the Ukrainian. This particular spa consists of four individual sanatoria, each one specialising in one or more distinct areas - diabetes, cardiovascular disease, ENT, gastrointestinal problems, etc. and are open for medical treatments six days a week (Sundays excluded). An integral part of any treatment is one of nine diet regimes, although these are recommended and not enforced.
The whole complex is located right in the middle of the city and is spaced out in a large expanse of sandy woodland with the river Khorol (Ukrainian: Хорол) providing several areas suitable for bathing. It has a musical fountain, (opened in 2010), and, at night, a large illuminated windmill, (opened in 2011), standing close to the main administrative building. Other features include pedaloes, boats, several restaurants and cafés, dancing, live music, rides through the woods in a horse-drawn carriage, a theatre, organised excursions and a large 'water feature' with geese, ducks and some beautiful black swans.
There is another sanatorium, 'The Rainbow', (Ukrainian: Санаторій «Радужний»), within the same grounds as Mirgorod Kurort but with different owners. This is, in the main, frequented by wealthy Ukrainians and Russians who prefer what they regard as the 'added security' of a sanatorium that advertises itself as 'élite'. The other two resorts are much further out of town, not so well maintained and equipped and are both rather 'tired' in appearance, both from the inside and out. One of them, the 'Gogol', (Russian/Ukrainian: Гогол) is owned by a Trades Union and seems to derive most of its clientele from its members.

Generally, English is not widely spoken in any of the spas, only Ukrainian and Russian, although Mirgorod Kurort has regular visitors from Germany, France, Dubai, the U.S. and Canada in particular and despite very few foreign visitors speaking more than a couple of words of the local languages, they do seem to be able to get by with some pointing, prodding and smiling.

What about sport?

Sport is an essential part of my life. When I was younger I used to play football every day,but now it doesn`t play a great importance.
The main reasons are my external testing and entering to the university.I`m sitting all days reading biology and doing physics...It`s so boring! But I don`t have a choice,I must learn. So now I`m watching sports on TV much longer than, for example, jogging. When I was younger I played football, volleyball, took part in sport competitions, attended sport clubs. So I can say that I was a succesful sportsmen. But now...I just have my physical lessons at school and visit gym three times a week.
I compansate training as a spectator and a fan of football club.I watch biatlon every weekends and regulary go in Poltava to support my favourite football team and that`s all...
 And what about you?

Shishkin bears painting
Shishkin bears painting Morning in a pine forest a picture is one of the brightest and appreciable products in creativity of artist Ivan Shishkin. The pine forest, that is is pine wood on sandy soil always was the most favourite place where the master often worked over the pictures. Often in such wood near to pines other trees such as a fur-tree or a birch, an aspen, etc. When you look at a picture Shishkin bears painting , that each person can mentally present itself in this wood, early morning, the smell of needles and a damp morning fog is caught charges air fresh wood aroma. Tops of century pines are shined by the tender morning sun, heavy branches of pines force mighty trunks of these trees to cave in. Recently in wood there was a terrible windbreak, the gale-force wind has tumbled down absolutely old pine, pull out this tree with mighty roots. The picture Shishkin bears painting in pine forest differs Morning from Shishkin's many other pictures that in this picture are represented a she-bear with three bear cubs. These it is live the written bears actually Shishkin, and its companion the colleague with whom Shishkin often together was engaged in creativity has represented not he is artist K.A.Savitsky. To tell that Shishkin was completely not able to draw animals, it not truly Shishkin sometimes drew various cows and lambs. Morning in a pine forest the picture was a unique case of the co-authorship, artist Savitsky upon termination of work with the black forest bears in this picture also has subscribed near to Shishkin's signature, But at purchase of a picture by the well-known patron of art Tretjakov, there was an incident, by the patron of art has persistently been specified, that Savitsky's signature is necessary for cleaning. The collector considered that the basic work has been made by Shishkin, with bear cubs he did not consider black forest bears as the main things in this picture. All it has served in a consequence as apple of discord between Shishkin and Savitsky's friendship as the fee for a picture has been paid to Shishkin. Though it is all the version from reasonings of critics. The plot with bears in a picture certainly promoted wide popularity, but Shishkin bears painting was considered as the basic value of a picture state of nature ideally reflected by the artist, that is a pine pine forest in the morning. The special place in a picture occupies a fog underlining air space of product. Year before Shishkin has written a picture the Fog in pine wood, it is possible after this work the idea of a writing of a picture in a pine forest was born Morning, it is quite probable that the idea of its writing has been submitted by Savitsky. Presently the picture became an embodiment of landscape painting, it know all young and old. Shishkin bears painting became the trade mark at manufacturers of sweets, sweets, souvenir production, a reproduction of a picture Morning in a pine forest can be seen on the cards framed in a baguette and hanging on walls of various offices and in our apartments. A lot of copy of this remarkable picture written modern artists. Picture black forest bears in a pine forest in Morning is the greatest masterpiece of the fine arts, there is it today in the State Tretyakov gallery.

My native town

Speaking about my native place the place where I was born I`d like to mention the proverb "East or West- home is best".Because your home, your native place seems to be the dearest and the best place in the world.
So I live in Myrhorod. It is situated in the central part of Ukraine, Poltava province Myrhorod district. It is not a very big town, nevertheless population is about forty thousand people.Myrhorod isn`t very big industrial center, but we have some factories.
Myrhorod was first mentioned in chronicles in 1575 when Stephen Bathory, King of Poland made it a regiment city. According to some historians, there was an earlier mentioning of the city in 1530, when the city coat of arms were established - yellow cross over an eight-pointed star, which signifies the victory of Christianity over Islam.
Myrhorod was the regimental base of the Myrhorod Cossacks who were very active in several Ukrainian Cossack uprisings, particularly during the peasants-and-cossacks revolt of 1638 under the leadership of Hetman Yakiv Ostrianytsia against the Polish nobility. The Myrhorod Cossack regiment was among the best units in the army of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky during the Khmelnytsky Uprising (1648–1654).After the Treaty of Pereyaslav, the city became the center for the Myrhorod regiment. The famous Sorochyntsy Fair is located 25 km from the Myrhorod.Myrhorod became famous in world literature through a cycle of Myrhorod stories by M.Hohol.Besides the central street of our town is named after this outstanding writer.
Traffic in Myrhorod isn`t heavy so you can in every time get in every place you want. We have a lot of buses, taxis. And it`s very easy to get to Myrhorod because we have a lot of buses and railway station.
Myrhorod is also cultural centre. There are 4 museums,2 churches, many monuments,
7 schools, ceramic college and several libraries
Myrhorod is well known for its  health resorts and curative mineral water "Myrhorodska".Along the banks of the Khorol river are buildings of sanatorium.
There are many possibilities to have fun in it.If you prefer loud music ,you can go to a disco. If you like more quiet atmosphere there are a number of cafes .For those who prefer more active rest there is a stadium and swimming pool, and a lot of sport clubs. If you want to go shopping you can visit our Central Department Store. But we have a short number of shops with fashionable clothes,it`s a pity.
I like my native town. Day by day it becomes more beautiful. I am pround of my town.

DrEaMs

Everyone has own dreams. Each of us wants to get wishful thing on birthday, on the New Year.... I`m not an exclusion also. I want to tell you about  my committed   and uncommitted dreams...

At first, as an ordinary kid, I would like to have  a cycle... It  happed ... I was so exited that you can`t imagine! But as  kids are growing they have new wishes. The new thing that I`d like to have it was a motorbike Wolf 200-2d...But it can`t happen, because if want to drive it, I need to pass traffic rules exam. I can`t do this because I`m  to young for this!

Of course, we live in material world, but some my inner dreams also had committed ... I think first love is something unbelievable and amazing...This pure feeling may happen one time in your life.I`m sure that you`ll agree with me.

And in conclusion I want to tell you that our material dreams and feelings is nothing compared with love!
But when I receive my motorbike(I hope), I will be the luckiest person in our town.

"Girls and boys should be taught in separate schools."

Everyone agrees that education is a very important thing but not everyone agrees about the best way to teach children. The most disputable question that people disagree on is whether girls and boys should be educated separately.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to single-sex schools. Many people think that boys and girls learn better in classes of the same sex and testing in a high-developed countries proves that girls in this schools study better .The main advantege that pupils of such schools are calmer and behave better too.

However , there are many disadvanteges.Firstly, this schools don`t give a chance to communicate with each other and in future it will be hard to adapt to the `normal` life. But why nobody asked boys or girls "What will be better for you?" To my mind 98% would say: "I want to communicate with boys and girls!"

In conclusion, although single-sex school can be good ecademically, but I think that boys and girls need to have "full" life, with communication, first love and а lot of adventures.
